Properties of the Catadioptric Fundamental Matrix

چکیده
The geometry of two uncalibrated views obtained with a parabolic catadioptric device is the subject of this paper. We introduce the notion of circle space, a natural representation of line images, and the set of incidence preserving transformations on this circle space which happens to equal the Lorentz group. In this space, there is a bilinear constraint on transformed image coordinates in two parabolic catadioptric views involving what we call the catadioptric fundamental matrix. We prove that the angle between corresponding epipolar curves is preserved and that the transformed image of the absolute conic is in the kernel of that matrix, enabling thus euclidean reconstruction from two views. We establish the necessary and sufficient conditions for a matrix to be a catadioptric fundamental matrix. Comments Postprint version. متن کاملGeneral Imaging Geometry for Central Catadioptric Cameras
Catadioptric cameras are a popular type of omnidirectional imaging system. Their imaging and multi-view geometry has been extensively studied; epipolar geometry for instance, is geometrically speaking, well understood. However, the existence of a bilinear matching constraint and an associated fundamental matrix, has so far only been shown for the special case of para-catadioptric cameras (consi...

Catadioptric systems consist of the combination of lenses and mirrors. From them, central panoramic systems stand out because they provide a unique effective viewpoint, leading to the well-known unifying theory for central catadioptric systems. This paper considers catadioptric systems consisting of a conic mirror and a projective camera. Although a system with conic mirror does not possess a s...

Catadioptric systems consist of the combination of lenses and mirrors. From them, central panoramic systems stand out because they provide a unique effective viewpoint, leading to the well-known unifying theory for central catadioptric systems. This paper considers catadioptric systems consisting of a conical mirror and a perspective camera. Although a system with conical mirror does not posses...
متن کاملMirrors in motion: Epipolar geometry and motion estimation
In this paper we consider the images taken from pairs of parabolic catadioptric cameras separated by discrete motions. Despite the nonlinearity of the projection model, the epipolar geometry arising from such a system, like the perspective case, can be encoded in a bilinear form, the catadioptric fundamental matrix. We show that all such matrices have equal Lorentzian singular values, and they ...
